50th Anniversary/Vacation

We just got back from out trip to Roy Lake, SD where we celebrated my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. We were there with my entire family. My brother JR and his fiance Rachel stayed in a cabin with us and my sister Stephanie. The there were my grandparents, Bob and Kathy and my parents Joe and Jody. My Uncle Dave and Aunt Vicki rounded it off with there 2 boys Thomas and Michael. That's right, I only have 2 cousins! A little different than Matt's huge extended family.

We had a surprise party for my grandparents at the lodge. We decorated and had dinner and my mom even made a mini wedding cake for the. It was lots of fun!

The weather was pretty nice the first couple of days, but then went down hill. We took Jennings to the beach to play, even though it was too cold to swim. He loves playing in the sand with all of his toys and watching the water roll in.

Otherwise were pretty much fishing and hanging out at the cabin. My brothers fiance, Rachel, went fishing for the first time and caught a 17.5 inch small mouth bass. just under the keeper range, but she had a lot of fun doing it. It rained all day Tuesday and we were supposed to do out fish fry. So, the boys stood outside under a beach umbrella to make food for everyone. Talk about rustic! Overall it was a great time and we wouldn't have missed it.

Swimming Lessons

Jennings recently finished his first round of swimming lessons and he loved it! These lessons were basically done to get him aquianted with the water and to make him more comfortable with splashing. However, I don't know that we even needed to do that! He is a fish. He didn't want to wait or take his time with anything. He got right in and started splashing and kicking. He could blow bubbles right away and he was the only baby in his class who didn't cry when we dunked them.
Jennings took his swim lessons with my friend Anne and her son Lucas. We had swimming every Monday and then we took the boys out for lunch and play time afterward. They have so much fun playing together. They would play catch, jump in together, and watched the big kids go down the slide. Jennings is a little bit more adventurous than Lucas, but I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing!
